Stash Short Film Festival: Comedy (2017)

Alright party people. Buckle up because this is probably going to be the weirdest blog I am going to post. I had someone recommend that I watch Stash Short Film Festival: Comedy (2017) and let me just say wowzers. I don't really know what I was going to be expecting when I watched these, but it wasn't this. I will say one of the short films that stood out to me was Darrel. I thought this one was cute, but it also kept me on my feet because I had NO IDEA about the twist at the end. I honestly thought he was going to get the girl, but BOY was I wrong. Not only was it hilarious but it had a story line that kept you entertained and it never gave away how it was actually going to end. I thought the scenes when he was trying so hard to impress her only to be embarrassing himself, but also hurting her in the process as well was super funny and relatable. Well not the ending of course (iykyk).  I think all of the other films lost points from me because either I was really confused ab

Everything Everywhere All At Once (Blog Three)

Wow, is what I want to start this blog off with. Whenever I started watching this movie at first I was really confused and was trying to figure out where absurdism was playing a part and even what the word meant at all. I will say I didn't really get the full grasp of it until the very end of the movie. I think Everything Everywhere All At Once does an amazing job at displaying this in the movie with some of the topics at hand. Absurdism is a hard concept to wrap your head around especially if you are not so sure what it is going into. To give a brief summary of what I think the word means is that you find some kind of comedic relief to something that people think is completely meaningless.       In  Everything Everywhere All At Once, it showcases this perfectly throughout the film because there are a ton of comedic relief that is so absurd during some of the fighting scenes you can't help, but laugh and then sit there and ask yourself "why did they even come up with

Reflection For Project Two

The audience I am trying to write to is the people who are skeptical of movie trailers and kind of see the point of them, but also who don’t really like them and over analyze every single detail in these trailers. The purpose of this blog is to dig deep into why trailers pick the things that they do and to do a deep dive on what these effects have on people who look at things from a more analytical side. The persona I am trying to write in is something completely out of my comfort zone and even though I really struggled with this side of things I think it gives a different perspective of someone who really hates these types of things, but she can find at least ONE good thing.

Classic Disaster or Classic Hit?

I wanted to add a different Rom-Com to my hate-watch journal and the movie Breakfast At Tiffany’s came across from some of my readers. Now I usually go all in and sit down and just watch the movie outright, but today I had a change of heart and decided to give the trailer a go first. Boy was that a mistake, but I honestly am glad I did it because I might have just spared about half of your eyes from this movie trailer. Now I can’t say I HATED every aspect of this trailer but I do have some lasting impressions I must discuss with y’all so let’s do a deep dive on this semi-horrendous trailer.      This wouldn’t be a proper post on my blog if I didn’t start with the negative first of course. One of my BIGGEST problems I had with this trailer was the lack of color creativity. Now I know that this was made in the 60s and it was a different time period blah blah blah. But let me get one thing straight, the color choice was not only super basic, but it did not match the theme of the

Movie Thoughts: Moonlight (Blog Post Two)

A theme that really stuck out to me in the movie Moonlight was how your environment can change and shape your mentality. The main character Chiron, goes through major difficulties as he is growing up such as fitting in and finding his true self and sexuality. Most of those difficulties had to do with the toxic environment that he was raised in. Chiron was born and raised in a neighborhood where crime was not a stranger in Miami. He lived alone with his drug addict mother who neglects him when he is at home. Throughout the movie he is bullied because of his sexuality and does not have any good influences in his life to steer him in the right direction. Unfortunately, he is faced with peer pressure in his teenage years and gets into trouble due to this and it changes his whole outlook on life.  Fast forward to his adult life, Chiron is unfortunately involved with the wrong crowd and starts selling drugs as his main hustle and has accepted that this life chose him and there is nothing h

Welcome to the Hate-Watch Community!!!

Welcome to my blog! Some of you might have clicked on it to see what the name actually meant and where in the world I even came up with it OR you are here because you agree with me and my stances on Romance Movies. WHY are they just that bad to the point that they aren't even realistic! My name is Julia and I love hate-watching romance movies (hence where the name came from). Now you might ask "why watch them at all?" or "Why did you have to come up with a blog?" All I have to say is someone has to be the voice for our thoughts AND reasons why the relationships would never work or end the way the movie portrays. Now you may be asking, "Julia why would I take your advice?" And honestly you do have a point and my only conditionals are I have notepads upon notepads for each romantic movie I have watched filled with my thoughts and reasoning on why this movie is so terribly good. And deep down I would love to share with everyone who agrees with me and fee
